Ryan’s World is Still YouTube’s Top Earner for 2020

Forbes has released the list of the highest-paid YouTube stars and Ryan’s World is still YouTube’s top earner for 2020. The main character of Ryan’s World is a 9-year old boy, Ryan Guan. In 2015, when Ryan was still 3 years old, his parents uploaded videos on YouTube while he was unboxing gadgets and toys. The YouTube channel was originally named Ryan’s ToysReviews. But it was then changed to Ryan’s World featuring the boy as Ryan Kaji.

Ryan’s World has 27.5 million YouTube subscribers and earned $29.5 million for the year 2020. The videos were shot on their property in Houston, Texas. It’s a house measuring 6,200 square meters turned into a family studio. Today, Ryan’s World is not just a toy review channel. With 80 licensed brands, it now features clothing and magazines. The videos were also shown on Nickelodeon.

The other YouTube channels who make it on the top earner list are:

  • MrBeast by Jimmy Donaldson = $24 million
  • Dude Perfect by Coby and Cory Cotton, Garret Hilbert, Cody Jones, and Tyler Toney = $23 million
  • Rhett and Link by Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal = $20 million
  • Markiplier by Mark Fischbach = $19.5 million

YouTube announces its 2020 list of the highest-paid YouTube stars on 18 December 2020.

Implications for Marketers:

YouTube viewers account for 92.8% of the total digital video viewers worldwide. Marketers should learn from YouTube’s list of top earners. These channels are consistently making good videos that capture the audiences’ hearts. As such, marketers should analyze their editing styles, key elements, and presentation notes, thumbnail usage, and video length together with other factors making them a YouTube sensation.
