Do you want to do some TikTok moves on YouTube? Then you can use YouTube Shorts. It’s a short vertical video clip you can upload on YouTube ranging from 15 to 60 seconds. YouTube Shorts is an imitation of the TikTok sensation just like Instagram Reels. Today, the platform is testing to introduce the Shorts button among YouTube users in India.
Launched on 14 September 2020, YouTube Shorts is a short-form video experience with a countdown feature, multi-segment camera, speed control, and timer. It can also be set into music through a large library of songs on YouTube. For some Indian users today, a Shorts button will be visible in the top bar of a YouTube app. This makes it easier for users to see the latest Shorts feed. The update applies to both Android and iOS versions of the app.
YouTube introduces the Shorts button among users in India as of 22 December 2020.
Implications for Marketers:
As YouTube tests the Shorts button on Indian mobile apps, marketers should prepare a shift on their strategy by using YouTube Shorts. As TikTok becomes an online sensation, Shorts has the potential to become a market trend. Marketers can boost their creativity by creating ads using Shorts. As such, they have a new platform to explore and a new eCommerce innovation to look for.
