Enabling “Places Mentioned” on YouTube Videos

Table of Contents

YouTube’s Ads Policy Manager, Conor Kavanagh, announces some updates on YouTube Studio. These include places mentioned, permission support extension, and editable auto chapters.

Places Mentioned

YouTube enables places mentioned on videos. It is an easy and engaging way to find more about videos. With places mentioned, creators no longer need to manually add text map links to add a video location. It will automatically be available among food and drinks videos, where YouTube can detect places. The new feature intends to make the whole experience seamless by providing visuals about the location.

Permission Support for Live Control Room

Channel permission allows creators to designate others as roles. Roles grants varying degrees of access to granular data like channel data, features, insights, or tools within the YouTube Studio. Channel Permission will now be extended to cover live control rooms. This means that permission users will be able to access the live control room in YouTube Studio for desktop for the channels they’ve been granted access to. Managers and editors can create, manage, and start live streams.

Editable Auto Chapters

YouTube now enables editing auto chapters directly to the description within the video details page. By allowing automatic chapters, creators can easily update auto chapter text or time stamps for a better viewing experience among audiences.

Implications for Marketers:

YouTube’s Places mentioned can help marketers boost local SEO. While permission support extension and editable auto chapters can help brands build better YouTube ads and campaigns through collaboration and managing YouTube channels.
