Instagram is back on track! After introducing Reels Overlay Ads and Reels templates, the platform is currently testing full-screen posts and Reels. In March, Alessandro Paluzzi, a mobile reverse engineer, tweeted an image about such full immersive feeds.
Instagram’s updated interface now displays posts and feeds on a full vertical screen. The top bar will still show the icons for browsing messages, checking notifications, creating a post, Stories, and switching accounts. While the bottom part still has navigations for the Discovery tab, Reels, Shopping, and a user’s own page. Full-screen posts and Reels on Instagram make videos display like TikTok clips.
Implications to Marketers:
It is a no-brainer for Instagram to make its screen layout more interactive. For marketers, things remain the same. Monetization still shows at the bottom part of the navigation for discovery, Reels, and shopping.
