YouTube launched Shorts last 2020. They are short-form videos imitating TikTok clips. As one of their top priorities, the platform encouraged the Shorts campaign and introduced the Shorts shelf. Initially, the Shorts shelf is visible on channel listings. Today, YouTube Shorts Shelf is on trending pages.
As explained by Conor Kavanagh, YouTube’s Ads Policy Manager, the Shorts shelves on trending pages will highlight the best performing Shorts per region. It will put a specific focus on the most popular Shorts clip, driving more traffic on top short-form video content. YouTube Shorts shelf on trending pages will initially be available in the following countries:
- Middle East
- North Africa
- United Kingdom
- United States
Implications to Marketers:
YouTube Shorts shelf on trending pages can help marketers boost engagement and reach. By uploading Shorts ads and campaigns that click to the audience, they can also drive conversions in the long run.
