Turning YouTube’s Dislike Counts Private

Here’s a big announcement from YouTube! To promote a more respectful interaction within the video-sharing platform, it is turning YouTube dislike counts private. This means that YouTuber’s can no longer see how many people dislike video content. It will only be visible among channel creators.

The dislike count button remains the same. YouTubers can see and click it as they wish. What’s hidden is just the insights on dislike counts to avoid negative attacks against a YouTube channel.  Dislike counts have been a favorite element of public bashers. Hiding them can at least stop such negative action. 

Implications for Marketers: 

Turning YouTube’s dislike counts private is an improvement to combat negativity.  For marketers, it is a great way to encourage channel subscription and engagement.
