Clips are a short video format of sharing a portion of long-form video content on YouTube. It can last up to 60 seconds long. The platform has been alpha testing it since January. The focus on such a feature is gaming channels. Through Clips, YouTube aims to maximize gaming content. YouTube is rolling out Clips to 10x more channels over the coming weeks. Still, these cover channels for gaming creators. Anyone who has access to Clips can see a scissors icon below the video playback screen. Clips can be shared on social media and through email using a unique Clips URL. Side by side with the expansion of Clips, YouTube enables a clip counter for creators to see the number of views for a certain clip.

YouTube is rolling out Clips to more users starting 12 May 2021.
