Choose formats around the audience, message and next action. Reels, Stories and Shorts are distribution formats rather than business objectives. A campaign can use several, with edits designed for different contexts.
Reels: one understandable idea
Plan a product benefit, demonstration or concise explanation. Make the opening clear and captions readable. Decide whether it should work for someone with no prior knowledge of the company.
Stories: a planned sequence
Map context, message and next step. Identify which clip stands alone and which depends on the previous one. Check the account’s available link and interaction features before building the creative around them.
YouTube Shorts
YouTube currently classifies eligible square or vertical uploads up to three minutes as Shorts. The permitted maximum is not a recommendation to fill it. Use the time needed for the idea, and check eligibility and music rules before delivery.YouTube Help: three-minute Shorts, checked 1 October 2026.
One shoot, several versions
Plan framing, caption space, opening lines and calls to action before filming. Reusing footage can help, but another platform may need a different order or ending. Agree edits and review rounds in the quotation.
Measure the intended outcome
Choose a measure that matches the objective, such as relevant website visits or project enquiries. Views alone do not establish qualified demand. Compare formats against consistent campaign goals and track the next action.
